Mine works very well so far - I don't see any error coming up in INDI - I'll see if I can reproduce your error. To get the web interface in English you'll need to reflash the firmware on the ESP32. The absolute best place to get support on this board is either the vendor or:

Thanks Andrew the method for reflashing the firmware is pretty helpful! I've been busy preparing for our annual Spruce Woods Star Party at our local Dark Sky Preserve, I'll hopefully be able to post some detailed observations on the operation of the Terrans controller in the field next week!

I have the same kit. How has it gone for you?

I don't have experience with onstep but thought this a cheap way to put my old cg5 to some use. It turned out to be difficult with two problems:

a persistent error message coming up in the Indi control panel - I use kstars - relating to focussing (which I don't have a profile for as I don't use it) but doesn't appear to impede operation, and

the mount will only slew about 10 degrees in RA and DEC before stopping. pressing move will start it again for another 10 degrees or so.

Oh, and the web interface is in mandarin! I notice your's isn't I think (resolution is low).

cheers

Andrew

Hi, Andrew! I have the same issues that you described. I updated the firmware ESP8266 but it is only for the integrated Web Server. If you find some solution for the other problems please let me know.

Hi Spas,

I can't communicate with the Indilib forum - I can't log in any more - Have I been a pest?

Anyway, I tried your solution to flash the unit with Arduino IDE mentioned in the forum and couldn't for some reason, probably beginner's mistakes. I received the same "fatal error"… Thought I'd wiped it too but it still operates but with the same issues previously described. I'm trying to get around the stopping slewing by manual PA in kstars, which works for me at least on CCD simulators. Every part of this exercise is a learning exercise for me.

I see a lot of people asking about the Terran units on the OnStep mailing list at: https://onstep.groups.io/g/main. Unfortunately my CG5 has been sitting idle for the last few months while I work on projects in my observatory. The unit worked pretty well at Spruce Woods although the observing was a bust due to heavy dew so I didn't really exercise the mount all that much.

The indilib forum is a pretty friendly place so I can't see not being able to access the site as being a "pest", must be something in your end. I've been on it a fair bit working with the new focusing algorithm for filter changes on my observatory system

Hi, Andrew! Can you confirm that you did this "When the "Connecting.............." message appears, hold the ESP32 button and briefly press the EN button. "? You have to release the EN button very fast.

I have done that. exit Status 2 errors keep occurring. Probably something elementary. Should I be doing anything with the jumpers?

Hi,

No, there is no need to change the position of the jumpers. Double-check the COM ID, speed, and the other parameters like:

Boards: ESP32 Dev Module

CPU Frequency: 240MHz

Partition Scheme: Huge App

Boards Manager, install the ESP32 support. I installed version 2.0.0.0. You can try with another.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience with the ESP32 modules to give you some advice. I had trouble with the EN button and realized it should be pressed quickly - just a click.

Unsuccessful for me. I don't understand the process so am doing by rote which means that I could be easily making errors!

Hi. I too have installed the Terrans v4 pro onto my unwanted CG5. Also installed TCM 2209 driver for the focuser. Molex wiring was a bit of a challenge. But everything seems to run okay. I am using a power box with 8 amps, wiring the the controller to the box. Question: will the temp probe for the focuser run via an audio jack probe to USB to v4 controller?

Regards,

Bruce H.
